Ultrasonic Generators

Ultrasonic Generators Power Sonics has several exclusive individual portable ultrasonic generators to significantly improve quality, reliability and performance of ultrasonic cleaning equipment and power our line of transducers.

GM Generator is a completely redesigned generator featuring IGBT technology and has a unique load compensating circuit that is particularly effective in gaseous solutions. A replaceable and cleanable filter is included over the air-cooling fan. The GM replaces the GL generator and provides the same improved cavitation and uniformity under less than ideal operating conditions. These generators power both the Type IP immersible transducers and the CT Type tanks (Transducerized Console Tanks).

GL Generator has a unique load compensating circuit that is particularly effective in gaseous solutions. The GL provides improved cavitation and uniformity under less than ideal operating conditions. These generators power both the Type IP immersible transducers and the CT Type tanks (Transducerized Console Tanks). GMR Generator is the version of the GM, which is used exclusively with the Radial transducer product line. It replaces the GR generator.

Ultrasonic Generators GR Generator is used only with the Type RT radial transducer. Operating at a fixed frequency, this generator accommodates the resonant characteristics of the radial transducer.

GP Generator is used with the Type IP immersible transducers and Type CT tanks when the load and bath conditions are tightly controlled. This generator works best in fully degassed solutions.

Features of the Individual Portable Generators:

  • Solid state circuitry utilizing the active power devices which have higher peak current and voltage ratings over previous power devices.
  • Each unit has a rated output of 1000 Watts at a nominal frequency of 20 kHertz.
  • Portable generators operate from a typical single phase, 115 Volt, 20 Ampere circuit.
  • Factory installed microcontroller based timer (GM only) with a start/stop and reset feature.

Immersible Transducers

Power Sonics exclusive designs are known as the Type IP ultrasonic transducers. Typically each transducer requires a one kW generator to drive it and has a radiating surface of approximately 100 square inches. They are designed to be mounted in just about any position, depending on the cleaning application.

Faster, the Type IP transducer because of the lamination design and layout achieves more even cavitation, which result in a transducer which achieved cavitation easily and quickly. The lamination design produces higher cavitation intensity that is more evenly distributed throughout the cleaning area.

This type of magnetostrictive transducer design consists of individual laminations driven by a common coil. Coverage of the radiating surface with laminations results in a high intensity design capable of being driven at high power densities. Levels of 10 Watts per square inch of lamination are typical with this approach.

The high efficiency of this new transducer design also reduces stress on generator components, which results in extended generator life. Type GM, GL and GP generators power these immersibles.

Other advantages of the lamination material are mechanical, electrical and thermal toughness. Low voltage excitation and continuous polarization support the high efficiency design. The "Synergistic" driving action of the radiating surface allows the IP transducer to be driven at the highest usable power levels for achieving effective cavitation.
